Beate Eriksen Family
Marius Eriksen, Jr., her father, was a World War II fighter ace. Marius Eriksen won the Norwegian slalom championship twice after the war, in 1947 and 1948. Marius Eriksen, Sr. Her father was a gymnast who earned a bronze medal in the 1912 Summer Olympics.
Marius Eriksen Jr. married Birgit “Bitten” Eriksen, a pioneer in the Norwegian women’s ski movement and an innovator of knitting designs. Marius and Bitten had a younger son named Stein Eriksen; he was also an excellent athlete. Likewise, he also won a gold medal in giant slalom and a silver medal in slalom at the 1952 Winter Olympics.

Eriksen received her graduation from the Norwegian National Academy of Theatre in 1985. After graduating, Beate worked for five years at Oslo Nye Teater and four years at Riksteatret. She has subsequently worked as a freelancer for institutions such as Nationaltheatret (the Norwegian National Theatre), The Norwegian Opera, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, and others. Beate has also appeared in films and television shows, most notably in the soap opera Hotel Caesar.
She began working as the series’ director in 2000, being the first cast member to do so. She directed 100 episodes of the show and 24 episodes of the children’s show Olsenbandens forste kupp. Eriksen is the dean of the theatre department of the Baerum Waldorf School.
