Rob Paulsen Early Life

Robert was born on March 11, 1956, and grew up in Grand Blanc, Michigan. His parents were Lee and Robert Frederick Paulsen Jr. He attended Grand Blanc High School, where he graduated in 1974. He sang in choirs throughout his infancy and adolescence and began acting in school plays, but his boyhood idol was ice hockey player Gordie Howe.

He saw the arts as a secondary career possibility owing to his primary desire to become an NHL player. Rob attended the University of Michigan-Flint for a short time before dropping out.

Paulsen has been a frequent industry guest and panellist at the San Diego Comic-Con International. He has also appeared at animation industry events such as the World Animation Celebration Online in 1998, to name a few. He’s also made appearances at anime conventions such as JACON, Micomicon, and Anime Overdose.

In 2007, Paulsen was a special guest at Anthrocon. He has recently begun doing “Rob Paulsen Live” seminars across the United States to discuss his career, sign autographs, and interact with fans. People in the crowd would occasionally ask him to do the renowned Yakko’s Globe song, in which he sings all the nations of the world in his Yakko voice in a fast-paced delivery without practising.

In May 2011, Paulsen established a new website, RobPaulsenLive.com, collaborating with social media and web producer Chris Pope. Similarly, a weekly audio podcast called Talkin’ Toons with Rob Paulsen was initially managed and deployed by The Tech Jives Network before becoming part of Nerdist Industries’ Nerdist Podcast Network.

Some episodes were shot in front of a live audience at The Improv in Hollywood, while others were shot at the Nerdist Showroom. Following the March 23, 2019 episode of Dante Basco, the show has been put on indefinite hiatus.

Paulsen announced in June 2011 that he would be taking his show on the road with his “Lots of laughs and autographs” tour. He completed his first successful tour on July 30, 2011, in Atlanta, Georgia, and another on September 17, 2011, which required two seminars, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, due to their popularity. Paulsen has had two marriages. He married Carol Anne Schnarr for the first time in 1979, and they divorced in 1982. In 1983, he married his second wife, photographer Parrish Todd. Ashton, their son, was born on September 10, 1984.

In an interview, Paulsen defined himself as “a musician who decided to become an actor.” Most of his characters are voiced with his American accent, though he has occasionally adopted other accents. With a broad English accent, he voiced Strut in The Land Before Time II: The Great Valley Adventure and Brunch in Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf and Bobble in the Tinker Bell movies and Gordon Quid in Catscratch.

He used an exaggerated Cockney accent in his role as Pinky, especially in earlier episodes. In Lilo & Stitch: The Series, he played Reuben (Experiment 625) with a Brooklyn accent.

Paulsen has long been a supporter of various charities and has contributed significantly to cancer research. He has contributed substantially to GOALmodels, an adolescent program, and he supports Camp Will-A-Way, a camp for youngsters with developmental impairments. He also gives money from autograph sales to the Wounded Warrior Project and Operation Smile.

Rob was diagnosed with stage III throat cancer in February 2016. He has since received treatment, and his cancer is no longer active. After battling illness, he wrote Voice Lessons: How a Couple of Ninja Turtles, Pinky, and an Animaniacs Saved My Life. He has continued his speaking and performing tour, in part to promote his book but also to share his personal experiences.
